Disclaimers

DRAFT FOR REVIEW. Not legal advice. Do not publish until the founder confirms the legal entity name, notice address, and contact email, and a licensed attorney has reviewed this document.

These Disclaimers apply to the English Hackers service operated by English Hackers ("Company," "we," "us") at https://talk.englishhackers.com and related pages. They are part of the agreement created by our Terms of Service. The English version controls.

1. Practice room, not a school diploma

The Services are a place to practice speaking after work with a living teacher. We do not grant academic credit, a degree, a visa, or a professional license. Completing minutes or reaching a named level in the app is not a certificate from a school or a government.

2. No guarantee of fluency or of any result

People learn at different speeds. We do not guarantee that you will become fluent, pass an exam, get a job, or reach any particular level. Results depend on your starting point, how often you talk, what you do outside the app, and factors we do not control.

Any example of a student improving, a number of hours, or a level change is an illustration, not a promise that you will have the same result.

3. Levels and exam names

The app may show names such as Novice Low, Intermediate Mid, or Superior. Those words are ours. They are not official ACTFL ratings, and we do not use ACTFL's brand or codes on student screens.

A quiet line that mentions CEFR, IELTS, or TOEIC is a rough likeness from our own table. It is not an official score, not a test we administer, and not a claim that a school or examiner will accept it.

Do not print a screenshot of Progress as if it were an IELTS Test Report Form or a TOEIC certificate.

4. Artificial intelligence can be wrong

Tutors are AI systems. They can mishear a word, invent a spelling, pick the wrong form, or give an explanation that is incomplete. Speech recognition writes ordinary spelling, not a phonetic transcription of what you actually said. A tutor that heard you clearly in the conversation may still write a different word in the transcript.

You are responsible for judging the output. If something matters (a work email, a medical conversation, an immigration interview), confirm it with a qualified human.

5. Not professional advice

Nothing in the Services is legal, medical, tax, immigration, or financial advice. Workplace or interview practice is language practice. It is not coaching for a specific employer and not a guarantee of a hire.

6. Living teacher still matters

The product is built as practice after a living teacher. Class notes you paste can steer a session. They do not make us your school of record, and they do not make the AI your only teacher.

7. Minutes, idle end, and dropped calls

Speaking minutes are live talking time as our systems record it. If you leave a tab open, we try to end the session after a short idle period so the meter does not run on an empty room. A dropped connection may still have used minutes. We do not warrant that every second on a clock in another app will match our meter.

8. Third-party services and availability

Talk depends on third-party speech, hosting, and payment providers. Outages, model changes, and network conditions can cut a session short or change how a tutor sounds. We are not responsible for third-party sites we link to.

9. Recordings

Sessions are recorded and transcribed. Assume a human on our team, and our speech provider, can see or hear what you said. See the Terms of Service (Voice Data) and the Privacy Policy.

10. Testimonials and teaching stories

Stories about students, classrooms, or results, including on the signed-out home, reflect particular people and times. Some details may be simplified for teaching. They are not a guarantee of your experience.

11. Affiliate and advertising

If we later include affiliate links or paid recommendations, we will say so. As of the date above, the tutor app's paid offer is speaking minutes through our own checkout.

12. Accessibility

We aim to keep the site usable, including on phones. We do not warrant conformance to a particular accessibility standard. If a control is hard to use, write to the address below.

13. Changes

We may update these Disclaimers by posting a new "Last updated" date. The current version applies going forward.
